Erik Daems

Erik - Founder and Managing Partner

With over two decades of legal experience, Erik is the visionary leader who started it all. He began his journey as an attorney at Baker & McKenzie and Covington & Burling. During his 12-year tenure as the Head of Legal EMEA & APAC for a NASDAQ listed US-based software company, Erik honed his skills in navigating complex international legal landscapes. In June of 2015, he founded TechLaB in Belgium, with a clear goal of providing high-standard legal expertise combined with a practical approach. Erik’s proficiency extends to complex transactional work, privacy, compliance, and intellectual property litigation. His multilingual capabilities in English, French, German, and Dutch, coupled with his admission to the Belgian Bar Association (Antwerp), make him a true asset to our clients.

Rebecca Supple

Partner

Based in our London office, Rebecca brings over 20 years of tech legal expertise to the table. Her journey began in the trenches, where she honed her skills as a senior technology lawyer. She’s navigated the legal intricacies of businesses across the spectrum – from small startups to multi-million-dollar global corporations. Rebecca’s forte lies in drafting and negotiating an array of IT contracts, with a special focus on business-critical agreements within the private sector. Her exceptional communication skills, coupled with a keen understanding of SaaS and cloud computing, make her a cornerstone of our London operations. Rebecca’s knack for managing demanding operational deliverables, coupled with her business acumen, ensures that she consistently delivers pragmatic solutions at senior stakeholder and board levels.

Doug Bean

Principal Lawyer

Doug focuses his practice on growing technology companies, and runs TechLaB in the US. As a former programmer, and Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of a large software company, Doug understands the intersection of law, sales, operations, and finance. He brings a balanced approach that focuses on business success with legal guidance as part of a broad solution for helping companies achieve their goals. During his nearly 25 years of technology experience Doug has guided clients in the following areas: corporate formation, finance, technology licensing, strategic alliances, service agreements (including numerous SaaS clients), channel partner agreements, and software terms of service. He regularly counsel with clients on startup financing instruments such as SAFEs and other convertible debt instruments, as well as providing guidance on other financing vehicles common to growing companies. Doug has a particular focus in the area of privacy and frequently counsels clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the European’s Union equivalent GDPR. He is experienced creating privacy policies and terms of service that protect companies who operate in the U.S. and worldwide.

Anika Seidenfaden

Anika Seidenfaden is a highly experienced German lawyer with a specialization in corporate, – technology and commercial law. With 6 years at Dentons and subsequent positions as an in-house lawyer in various corporations, including NewWork SE, she has gained extensive experience in diverse legal matters within these areas. With 17 years of legal expertise, she has honed a strong combination of knowledge and practical skills, providing start-ups to multinational companies in the technology industry with customized legal advice. Recognized for her in-depth understanding of intricate and complex legal matters and a keen business acumen, she plays a crucial role in TechLab’s operations, particularly in the German market (D.A.CH. – Germany.Austria.Switzerland). Sebastiaan Holslag

Sebastiaan is TechLaB’s Brussels, Belgium based experienced lawyer who has a profound understanding of legal and technological concepts, and the ability to bridge between legal, tech and commercial. Sebastiaan’s practice areas cover transactional and advisory work, usually for technology companies in an international context or companies seeking for digital solutions. This includes everything from hardware, software, hosting and other commercial agreements in both supplier and customer arrangements within the private sector, compliance, to data protection and intellectual property rights. Sebastiaan‘s practice areas also include litigation, negotiation, mediation, arbitration and representation in courts regarding disputes involving business and IT issues. Clients describe Sebastiaan as a very skilled legal counsel providing high quality legal solutions in an efficient, timely and straightforward manner. Sebastiaan is admitted to the Brussels Bar Association and advises in Dutch, English and French.

Stephanie Beaumont

Stephanie is an experienced privacy and commercial lawyer combining extensive legal and DPO expertise gained from working with international organisations in a variety of sectors including fintech, SaaS, pharmaceuticals and financial services. Expert at supporting key stakeholders with governance and risk-based decisions, Stephanie specializes in ensuring that the data protection life cycle is legislatively compliant from contract to operational delivery providing pragmatic solutions to often complex data protection issues. A personal interest in privacy by design in software development has led to the successful collaboration with computer science colleagues at Cardiff University and the development of a prototype tool to deliver privacy compliant software applications from day one.
